Industrial Developments in AP:
Government of Andhra Pradesh accords top priority to industrial development to make Andhra Pradesh a progressive and highly industrialized state, a State that is a centre of technology and innovation and a joyous population confident of its bright future. In this regard, extensive consultations were held with stakeholders, Industrial Associations namely Cll, FAPSIA, FAPCCI, A.P. Spinning Mills Associations, ALEAP etc. for formulation of new policy. Industrial Development Policy (IDP) 2015-20 has been prepared to make Andhra Pradesh most preferred destination for investors by providing favorable business climate, excellent infrastructure, good law and order and peaceful industrial relations. The new industrial policy also focuses on creating a conducive ecosystem which makes industries based in Andhra Pradesh innovative and globally competitive. Government of Andhra Pradesh (GoAP) lays utmost emphasis on sustainable industrial development anchored by capacity building at the grassroots level.

Small & Medium Scale units in AP:
The State, with its strategic location, is poised to be the Gateway to East and Southeast Asia Andhra Pradesh with its long sea coast copious water resources from the Godavari and the Krishna and abundant natural resources, presents environment for business and industrial growth. The State has strong manufacturing sectors like Cement, Paper, Food Processing and Aquaculture, Steel, Fertilizers, Chemicals & Petrochemicals, Textiles, Automobile and Ship Building. The new sectors emerging include electronic hardware, and aerospace. The Government is promoting sector specific industrial parks such as Food Processing Parks, Textile Parks, Electronic Complexes etc. to provide fillip to thrust sectors. The other major projects include Visakhapatnam-Chennai Industrial Corridor and Chennai Bengaluru Industrial Corridor.
Subsidy to SC/ST and Woman Entrepreneurs:
Andhra Pradesh is recognized as the first state in the country which has a separate policy for SC and ST entrepreneurs. The industrial sector accounted for a growth of 11.13% during 2015-16 in the state. The increasing growth across various components of the industrial sector such as manufacturing, mining & quarrying, gas & water supply, construction and electricity, is a major driver for the growth of the industrial sector.
Large & Medium Scale units in AP:
The state government also introduced various policies for the growth of this sector, including the MSME policy, Automobile & Automobile Components Policy, Industrial Development Policy, Food Processing Policy, Retail Trade Policy, etc. Automobiles and Auto components Industry, spices, mines and minerals, Textiles and apparels, IT industry, Bulk drugs and pharmaceuticals, horticulture, poultry farming are the main industries in Andhra Pradesh.

Visakhapatnam has emerged as a major industrial center and has major public and private sector establishments producing large scale industrial goods ranging from steel, metals, petroleum, polymers, fertilizers, heavy engineering equipment and also facilitates ship building, ports and fishing. Kakinada has multiple fertilizer refineries and produces large scale of natural gas from the offshore of KG basin. Kakinada also exports seafood and related products and produces agricultural products like rice and corn, edible oils, oilmeals, processed food products, chemicals, biofuel etc. Vijayawada is famous for processing of agricultural products, automobile body building, hardware, textile, consumer goods and small scale industries. Andhra Pradesh has one major port at Visakhapatnam and several medium-sized ports like Gangavaram, Kakinada & Krishnapatnam; which account to large export of cargo traffic. They are several large power plants and major ones are established at Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Kakinada, Krishnapatnam and Cuddapah.
